This painting is a continuation about thoughts of time and space.

Whilst creating it I was listening to a song about the "The Lament of Hermes" it talks about a prophecy describing the end of Egyptian civilisation. The text date back to the 1st to the end of the 3rd century AD. Believed to be written by Hermes Trismegistos, thought to be the inventor of writing and the patron of all the arts dependent on writing.

"since it is fitting that wise men should have knowledge of all events before they come to pass" (Quoted from kemetexpereince.com)

"O Egypt, Egypt, of thy religion nothing will remain but an empty tale, which thine own children in time to come will not believe; nothing will be left but graven words, and only the stones will tell of thy piety." (Quoted from kemetexpereince.com)

He goes on to talk about the destruction of Egypt, however there is hope as it seems this is just part of the cycle, as the gods who once departed will come back to cleanse the land and restore peace.

This made me think deeply about ancient civilisations that has gone before us, although we can only now see its ruins of what once was its meaning still lingers. Perhaps they can guide us to not only think about the past but also the present. This is what I felt when creating this painting and seeing it finished. It lead me to think about the past, present and future.
