What is NFT Art?
Imagine I give you an original artwork, it is the only one of it kind existing. There is no way of copying the real physical thing, it belongs entirely to you and you have the Certificate of Authenticity to prove it and because you own it you have the rite to keep it for your self or sell it on the secondary market.
An NFT is a Non-fungable token. It is data that is stored on the Blockchain. Therefore this NFT Digital Artwork can not be copied as the Blockchain Certifies this. In other words, you have complete ownership of the Digital Artwork knowing that it is original, Certified and can not be copied.
Another thing that makes NFTs unique is that it can help artists like myself sustain their practice as every time an NFT is re-sold a royalty can be paid directly to the artist thereby removing the middle man.
Are NFTs a Scam, Are they Bad for the Environment?
It is true, there can be a lot of price speculation, and some NFTs are very expensive. However within all markets speculation can occur as value can be determined by the buyer and supply and demand. For this reason I have tried to price my NFTs at a reasonable price.
When it comes to Environmental concerns, blockchain companies like Ethereum are ever evolving and investigating ways to reduce their energy consumption.
What Can I do with this?
As this NFT Digital Artwork now belongs to you, you can either keep it for years to come to enjoy on your digital devices. As they are on the Blockchain they can be moved around to different spaces, you can even place them in your own Virtual Gallery Collection for others to enjoy. Also they can be sold on the secondary market just like the physical art market.
