The Relics of Vallauris created during the A.I.R Vallauris Artist Residency, France 2021
"Relic 2"
Stoneware, glazed fired to 1230c
H40 L41 W17cm
Wondering through the town of Vallauris I was immersed by the history. The buildings spoke of the past and traditions. The story of the potters and artists that worked in this area intrigued my imagination. This became my inspiration for this series of artworks. Pottery thrown on the potters wheel, re-constructed to form abstract ceramic sculpture. Revealing traditions, commenting on the past, present and future. The Relics of Vallauris!
This Residency concluded with an Exhibition at Chapelle de la Misericorde, Vallauris, France. 20-24th November 2021.
This sculpture is in the Collection of A.I.R Vallauris.
