When I was in Taiwan I had the opportunity to learn ink paintings techniques and also improved upon my knowledge of how to make handmade paper.
When I got back to the UK I decided to make a batch of handmade paper to experiment with. I also had some thin paper that I had taken back with me from Taiwan. By placing black ink into a swirling bowl of water I was able to create this pattern by layering the paper on the water when it was still, after which I had then taken off the paper. After this ink painting had dried affixed it onto my handmade paper, then layered on paper cut outs.
