Inspiration
This ceramic sculpture continues upon a series of sculptures made by stacking spheres thrown on the potters wheel.
There is a spontaneous action to this process that I enjoy, I let the clay sphere full by its own gravity to create these distortions to the whole form. It is a way for me to construct an organic form and create an inner space to peer through.
It is an abject about form and space, capturing a moment in time. Like many of my key principles, it is created to evoke curiosity, to free your imagination.
The colours on this form is simple, comprising of contrasting colours black and white. What I like about porcelain is its purity in colour and so the black seems to complement this nicely.
