Inspiration
This painting is part of a series of paintings using the technique of acrylic pouring.
I was inspired by newspaper as it captures the memory of a time in history and tells one angle to what is happening in society. If you look closely you should be able to just about see some of the newspaper imagery.
I was also inspired by the industrial world we are living in. I was researching images like chemical spills and industry to use as a reference to infom the colours and part of the idea behind this artwork.
I combined these two subjects together as a commentary on the chaos of society.
I then overlaid this with a circle to symbolise belief and entering a space, to embody a spiritual presence. Perhaps it is our belief and values that keep these things alive.
This painting had quite a lot of floor wax added to it, which gives it this brown colour. I enjoy using materials that are not common to use in fine art painting. It creates some unexpected results.
