How to Throw a Mug on the Potter's Wheel
Would you like to learn how to Throw a Mug on the Potter's Wheel? Are you currently looking to learn new ceramic skills or would you like to recap on the skills you already have?
A mug has so many functions. It can be used as tableware and is very suitable for hot drinks like coffee and tea.I have also used the mug to create sculpture by cutting and reassembling the form.
Learning how to throw a mug also taught me about how it functions when being used as tableware. For example, it taught me to think about its weight. As people will be picking it up and drinking from it, I have to consider making it light to hold. I also need to consider the rim, as I want it to be comfortable on the lips. The mug then gets me thinking about the handle. It needs to be big enough to comfortably hold and it has to have a nice curved shape to it.
