Inspiration
Second hand charity shops, a place of treasures of unknown histories and story's. I picked up this original oil painting from my local charity shop. It was painted by an artist called Lopez.
I was drawn to the vast attention to detail within the landscape, the textures of the trees, the subtle lighting, the way landscape pulled me into the space, the lush atmosphere and a house isolated but inviting.
I wanted to overlay my own image on top of this painting by giving it a new meaning. At the same time I wanted to respect the original image. I decided to strike a balance between the artwork by Lopez and my own by using a circle to draw the eye to the image underneath. I wanted to add a contemporary style to in some ways a traditional painting and add a new lease of energy to it. I would like the viewer to pear into the space, enter a dream or memory of a moment captured in time and interpret it in their own way. I would like to show "Homage to Lopez".
