Artist Residency at NES. Skagastrond, Iceland. February 2023
Project Overview
For this artist residency project at NES (neslist.is/), I created a series of travel postcards under the project name “Memories of Skagastrond, Iceland”.
This series of postcards were created to reflect the essence of the local area such as its landscape and colours, space and surreal appearance. Being immersed in this environment made me think I was in an icy desert, the colours black and white come to my mind, it is an imaginative space of mystery.
Just like travel postcards that we send to friends and family from the country’s we visit, I placed designs on the back. This allows people to write down their own message, and there is an area for the address and stamp to be placed.

This series of postcards were created to reflect the essence of the local area such as its landscape and colours, space and surreal appearance. Just like travel postcards that we send to friends and family from the country’s we visit, I placed designs on the back. This allows people to write down their own message, and there is an area for the address and stamp to be placed.
Each postcard was carefully made by hand at Skagastrond Iceland using acrylic paints and varnish on water colour paper. The design on the back is also handmade. Each postcard is signed by me and numbered. No two postcards are the same. There are only 12 in this series making it ideal for collecting.
Welcome to learn more about the project by watching the video Here!
I am happy to reveal my postcards to you! I really enjoyed making them and they look so much better in real life.
