Who are we?
We are Artists Martin & Wen-Hsi Harman ​
Picture
Martin studied his MA in ceramics at Cardiff School of art and design, UK in 2012. He has been making ceramic sculpture and paintings professional for the past 7 yeas. A lot of his ceramic process starts on the potters wheel so he has also many years of experience of using this tool and colour application.

He is a member of the UNESCO-International Academy of Ceramics IAC.

His ceramic sculpture and paintings has been exhibited around the world such as Italy, France, Germany, South Korea, Australia and Switzerland.

His ceramic sculpture is in public collections internationally such as Panevezys Civic Art Gallery Lithuania, International Ceramics Studio Kecskemét Hungary, New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum Taiwan, Ariana Museum Geneva Switzerland.

WEN-HSI 文曦 Harman (1984-) was born in Taipei, Taiwan and is a ceramic artist currently living and working in Somerset, United Kingdom. 

She studied her MA in Contemporary Crafts (Ceramics) at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, UK (2010). She also is the member of the UNESCO-International Academy of Ceramics IAC and Royal Society of Sculptors (MRSS). 

​Her work is also in the public collections such as the International Ceramics Museum Foundation of Faenza, Italy (2022). The Compass Centre, Bristol, UK (2017). The Fule International Ceramic Art Museum in China (2016).The New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan (2016).The Ceramic Foundation in South Korea (2015).

The Experience? 
We host creative Art workshops that are fun, relaxing, new experience inducing!
We want to create a space for you to
 try a new activity, unwind from the day, immerse yourself in a family activity or celebrate special occasions like Birthdays. 

If you are curious to find out about the positive side effects of creative workshops, I wrote a blog post that you can read Here. It also includes more pictures from previous events that we hosted.

What makes our Workshops Special?
We offer Creative Workshops from:
  • Paint your own pottery like Mugs, Plates and Soap Dish and  porcelain Christmas decorations! What makes our paint your own pottery special is that it is wheel thrown on the potters wheel by Martin meaning they are completely handmade from start to finish including your design! This adds to its uniques and handmade quality to create a memorable item for you. The pottery for the paint your own pottery workshops is also made from stoneware clay making it durable.

  • We also offer Creative Calligraphy (Wen-Hsi's specialty) Participants get to learn lucky calligraphy characters and use traditional brush and ink on traditional red paper to take home!

Our workshops lets you discover and express your own inspiration and unique artistic voice, wile sharing the history of ceramics & art. We are here to let you be yourself! 

Each workshop is created for you to create something special and memorable for you to keep and treasure for years to come!

Who is it for?
Our workshops are for all ages! Individuals, families and groups. We have had all walks of people attend from children, teenagers, adults and people 80+!
They are simple and immersive to get stuck into, ideal for people who are creative and those who don't see themselves as creative (but deep down you are!)
No Experience is required as our workshops are beginner friendly and if you need some inspo we are here to help.

We are here to be there when you need it, we just want you to be yourself and we really want you to have an amazing time.


The Venue?
We host our workshops in lovey independent Caffe venues currently across the South West of the UK, ware you also get access to drink and food.

Celebrate Summer ! Come and Paint your own Pottery Plate or Bowl!


Looking for a new activity for your family or friends? Why not come along to this workshop for a creative, relaxing and enjoyable experience!


What makes this workshop special is that you get to paint your own Summer themed creations. Choose between painting your very own Plate or Bowl thrown on the potters wheel by the artist Martin that’s yours to keep and treasure! Made from durable stoneware clay.


Experience creativity by picking up a paint brush to create your unique Plate or Bowl painting. Be inspired by the flowers and animals that come out during this season.


Take it home, use the bowl for your favourite summer flavours like salads. Or use the plate for foods like apples, strawberries, cakes, ice cream or anything you fancy!


You will be guided by artists Martin and Wen-Hsi Harman. We’ll be there to support you throughout the session. You can view more of our work and experience here and here.


What will happen in the Workshop?

  • Choose between hand painting either 1 Plate or 1 Bowl using ceramic paints and brushes provided. (Inspiration images provided for guidance)
  • Once finished I will take the Plate or Bowl back to my studio to apply a clear glaze and fire in the kiln.
  • Everything is included in the price apart from shipping if you need it.


Refreshments

  • Access the cafe for drinks and snacks! (Charged separately. Cash only)


Collection of your Plate or Bowl

  • Process takes 4 weeks to complete.
  • Once your item is finished, I will contact you to arrange collection.
  • You can either pick it up at Strawberry Line Cafe, or I can ship it to you for £3.90 (UK standard 2nd class). "Shipping is optional."
  • Finished item includes gift packaging seen in the picture!

Who is the Workshop for?

  • Whether you’re an adult or child. Anyone can join. If under 12 please come accompanied with an adult.
  • No Experience is required as our workshops are beginner friendly and if you need some inspo we are here to help.

Q&A

Workshop

  • I have never tried painting a Plate or Bowl before, will you provide any guidance? Myself and Wen-Hsi are here to help you, we will provide guidance.
  • What is the Size of the Plate and Bowl? (Approx) Plate Width 15.5cm Hight 4cm. Bowl Hight 8cm Width 17cm.
  • Do I need to bring anything? You don't need to bring anything. Just make sure you are wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty. There will be facilitates were you can wash your hands.


Tickets

  • Do I need to pre book a session or can I just turn up? Ideally this workshop works on a pre booking basis. This is because we have booked the space and we need to be able to plan and offer a high quality activity and to make sure we have enough materials and resources for everyone.
  • I purchased a ticket, What happens Next? You will receive an email notification of your purchase. Please bring this to the event to enter!
  • Will the Tickets remain on sale on July 30th? Tickets will remain on sale till Wednesday 30th of May up to the beginning of the event if still available. The ticket price will be £27 at that time.

  • I don't live close to the event, Is there a place I can stay? If you would like to stay in the area for the duration there is The Double Tree by Hilton Hotel and Bridge Inn
  • I have a car, were should I park? Car parking is to the side of the Strawberry Line Cafe.
  • Can I get there by train. Yes you can!!! Take the train to Yatton Train Station and whola! step off the train and your here. You can get a direct train from Bristol Temple Meads, Bedminster even London! Other trains run further afield.


Refunds

  • I purchased a ticket but would now like a refund? I can refund you the full ticket price 1 week before workshop if you need to cancel. However no refunds will be made from the 24th of July.

What people people like about this mug is the little dimples on the sides making it comforting to hold. Plus you have the contrasting glazes between the matt white and the oozing glossy colours. It makes for a nice depth of colour.
